On November 14, Jensen Huang (CEO of Nvidia) and Julie Sweet (CEO of Accenture) graced the scene to inaugurate the first Indonesia AI Day. Highlighting AI ambitions for economic and societal progress, even Prabowo Subianto (President of Indonesia) couldn’t help but share his visions via a phone call on weaving AI into his core development strategies for the nation.
Acknowledging AI’s potential to contribute up to USD 366 billion to Indonesia’s GDP by 2030, a central aspect of the discussion lied in cultivating Indonesia’s already-thriving startup culture.
Home to over 2,000 startups, most of which are in Jakarta, Indonesia has taken the title of becoming the central startup melting pot in 2024. High-level government support has also been instrumental to its success. Notably, startups with annual revenue below IDR 4.8 billion or roughly USD300K are typically eligible for value-added tax (VAT) exemptions.
Hence, the decision by Nvidia’s inception program to feature a vast array of startups during Indonesia AI Day was a no-brainer. Covering a detailed view of the event, we breakdown a list of the potential must-know startups that you should keep your eyes on, with a spotlight on Feedloop.ai, an Indonesian startup known for its AI-driven low-code platforms.
Backed the Nvidia incubator these startups were enabled to cast a wide net, from assisting the corporate giants to the little guys in the MSME enterprise. This led to startups in the program to utilize Gen-AI en-masse, from tried-and-true ideas like AI-powered payments and conversational chatbots to creative solutions like IoT for improved chicken farming quality in agriculture.
Bringing a chatbot that is accessible and easy to use, Personal.ai stayed true to its mission of empowering individuals with AI models that are built, owned and controlled by the users themselves.
So, what makes Personal.ai’s latest chatbot different from the rest?
Speaking about training, we met OttenMatic, Indonesia’s first robot barista. Built and trained by Otten Coffee to serve manual brew coffee, OttenMatic only needs 3 minutes (a total of 5 minutes for personalised requests) to get coffee ready.
Providing a unique experience for drinking coffee, OttenMatic is not the replacement to human baristas, but aims to supplement them, providing visitors educational information about coffee in Indonesia.
Focusing on agriculture, specifically chicken farming, BroilerX combines smart farming technology with enterprise resource planning (ERP) to empower smallholder poultry farmers. By utilizing AI and IoT, BroilerX can modify farm conditions such as temperature, humidity, wind speed and lighting to ensure the chickens well-being and increase overall farm energy efficiency.
“Feedloop’s advanced AI technology brings organizations in Indonesia the ability to optimize their operations and gain a competitive edge. The reliability of the AI platform is, however, key to making Feedloop a trusted partner for enterprises.” - Ahmad Rizqi Meydiarso, Co-Founder and CEO of Feedloop.
Founded in 2019, Feedloop.ai is an Indonesian startup included in the Nvidia Inception Program for its ability in building AI-driven low-code platforms. These solutions allow businesses to streamline workflows, personalize customer experiences, and analyze behavior in real time.
Today, the team consists of over 90 members, all of which are experienced AI engineers, with Ahmad Rizqi at its helm. We were fortunate to meet up with Feedloop.ai and learn of their latest collaboration with IBM that aims to integrate their local language models in IBM’s watsonx platform. The collaboration also aims to enhance Feedloop.ai’s service quality in directing, managing, monitoring, and governing their AI for existing and future regulations.
As of today, Feedloop.ai has 3 main use cases
Feedloop.ai and its developments have not only created deep emotional resonance with its consumers but also serves as a prime example of how other AI companies should aim to design their products.
The momentum showcased at National AI Day underscores that this is only the beginning for Indonesia. By fostering talent, investing in robust infrastructure, and cultivating a culture of innovation, Indonesia has the potential to become a regional AI startup powerhouse—setting an inspiring precedent for emerging markets worldwide.
